Fuel Pump Kits

Part # 1526, 1527, 1606, 1607, 1622

For the ease of installation the fuel tank should be as empty as possible.

! CAUTION !

Keep all possible sources of ignition

away from vehicle at all times

Step 1

Place the rear of the vehicle on jackstands to obtain adequate clearance.

! CAUTION !

Use extreme caution under vehicle

Step 2

Start by removing the 5/16 bolt on the filler neck brace.

Step 3

Next place a floorjack with a block of wood on it under the tank to lower it.

Step 4

Unplug the wire harness on the back of the gas tank, then remove both 13mm bolts from the holding straps and

slowly lower the tank, removing the filler neck as you lower it. Also disconnect the fuel lines and the vacuum line

when the tank is low enough to gain access to them.

Step 5

Remove the gas tank completely from the vehicle, and using a spanner wrench or equivalent, remove the ring

holding the pump assembly from the tank.

Step 6

Remove the factory fuel pump from the tank by rotating and lifting the fuel pump/bracket assembly.

! CAUTION !

Do not knock filter loose during removal

Step 7

Install new filter and pump onto the factory bracket and reinstall making sure of filter orientation. (On Part #

1606, 1607 and 1622 pumps you must use additional hardware (hose, clamps, gaskets and wiring) when

attaching the pump to the bracket.)

Step 8

On Part # 1606 190 lph pumps – cut old connectors off of the factory wires and splice the new harness matching

red to red and black to balck with supplied connectors.

Step 9

Simply reverse previous steps 1-5 for reinstallation.
